Hello and welcome to another Liotes mission. Today I have a question to ask you.
I mean lately I have seen a lot of people who were quite pessimistic about Hive, especially in respect to the price, but what we shouldn't forget is that Hive is not in a closed ecosystem, that it is linked to the whole crypto market out there and that it's suffering together with all the other tokens. Maybe this is actually an opportunity for Hive to stand out because when you have thousands of tokens, tons of hype and then everything crashes down, there will be a lot of losers that simply disappear and some things that remain. So my question to you today is:
How can we make hive great again?
Please leave your answer as a comment below this post.

Partnerships and get back to making apps. Hive needs more mobile apps. And even if an app isnt a “Hive app”, it would be nice to see apps that use hive tech in some way. Podcast 2.0 uses podping and it works great. I drive trucks and would love to have a Hive based podcast player that used a good portion of the podcast 2.0 tags like the fountain app but Hive for the community portion…
Worldmapin is cool, can we get a meet up app?
Sounds crazy, but can we get an dating app that uses hive for reputation and to prevent bot accouts…
Idk just throwing stuff out there. 🤷🏾♂️

I'm sure that something like that would not be that difficult and could be an interesting concept.
To be honest, nothing comes to mind. Everything has already been discussed a hundred times.
But I'm just a blogger; I don't know any financial levers that could increase the price in the open market. It seems to me that this situation suits someone.
I'm not as negative as I was some time back about hive because I realised that hive is much more resilient than other chains and maybe the low prices are not too bad because they level the playfield. Also thanks to AI, it becomes more and more easy to build apps and we just need people that have ideas and energy to build stuff here.
!INDEED
I'm learning AI video. It's fun :)
I don't think there is anything except for more apps that attract new users. At the same time, I think the DHF needs to be addressed too.
The DHF is definitely an issue and it's a self service for whales in a way. It's poisoning hive and I don't like it. Nowadays, we believe that we need new developpers on hive but we forget that with AI, almost everybody can start to code and create apps...
That is a very good question, not just from improving HIVE vs the crypto market but also from a recovery aspect. There are so many Crypto projects out there not just on Hive but on most if not all other crypto blockchains. I see a lot of projects on Hive that copy or are closely similar to projects on other chains. It is very hard to state one or two things that set Hive apart from others out there. There are other Social Media cryptos, gaming cryptos, etc. Creating content for rewards is not getting to be common place.
I would like to know if there are any metrics that show new hive member retention. As I see lots join but then don't stay for long because there are other opportunities that grab their attention.
I wish we could find that Magic answer.
The user retention rate is definitely not the greatest strength of hive. It's complicate to understand but you are right that there are not many places where you can get rewarded for creating content. In the end there is place for similar products on the market. On Hive we have one advantage and that is that we are a community that is quite close to each other and we simply need to develop it to make hive great :-)
Instead of rally cars (which I hope they have sold by now) they should hire a professional and experienced marketing company to push the chain. If you want growth, word of mouth is great, but nothing is as effective as an organized marketing team.
Getting everyone or even the majority to agree to this will be difficult is not impossible, but it's really the best bet to stop the slow slide down the charts.
The great thing about hive is that you can build something without the autorisation of anybody. In addition to that, we now have access to AI which can actually help us build things...
wear red cap and do the YMCA dance
honestly I don't think any we can do here, except if we reach to whale size, then there will be some opportunities arise. Before that, it's just an aimless day dreaming. it's DPoS anyway, the number of staked says the most. one big guy matters more than millions of krills
or if hive drops too low, some people might come in and challenge the current cabal. Hopefully they could bring more better projects, rather than aiming to get DHF only.

Well you are doing your part, you are still around and still active. This is the very first step for all of us. From there we can build something :-)
Yeah, the general crypto market is down, and so is HIVE. How to make the blockchain great again? Forgive me, but I don't know what to say :)
I think one small thing how we can contribute is to not give up and continue being active here.
Yes, yes. That is what we do. We disappear just because things aren't looking too good.
I do not know how, but I do know it DOES NOT involve red caps and a demagogue spewing hate. :)
I agree totally with you :-)
I would like to see more user-oriented development, specially mobile dapps, which is what almost everyone has in their pocket. @snapie is a good example in this area, the experience using it feels fluid.
Such initiatives are really great. The problem for these apps is that with a small user base like hive, it's quite difficult to cover the costs.
I think any crypto has to end up something useful to be bought. Crypto usually have us buying other cryptos. I would rather buy something that I can use in my daily life.
Long ago I bought a steam game using hive and pizza. Atleast something like that should be easy.
When I look at the economical machines today, I see a lot of products that are not physical anymore. You pay to use and hive could provide that. We just need to provide something that people find useful...
What can we do personally? Keep using Hive and showing its usecases. I am mostly just playing Splinterlands now.
That's totally true. The first thing we can all do is go on using it and not giving up...
Hive ecosystem seems to be partially discontented to general crypto trends. When prices fall, $HIVE falls too. When prices rise $HIVE doesn't rise with them. I don't have numbers at hand to prove this, it's just my feeling.
The major problem, well, one of the, is that power distribution is still skewed. And when somebody powerful decides to milk the system, it is entirely doable for them, and it hurts a lot. Again, no numbers to prove it.
On the other hand, Hive will become ten years old in a couple of months. This shows resilience, stubbornness, strength. And there we have a community (communities) of strong believers which is good too.
Putting it all together, weaknesses and strengths, ... I don't know. All things end one day. But before that we can and will do our best to keep this ship sailing.

Ps: I will make some personal moves to limit the damage, just in case !LOLZ
There are a lot of things that are far from perfect but I agree hive is resilient and still around which is not the case for all the projects that were created.
In a way we have a lot of freedom to use the blockchain the way we want and I think we are failing for the moment to leverage the power of AI code generation to create things with hive.
I am using AI a lot, with Perplexity being my favorite tool. I even "coded" my first Google Apps script to integrate Google Docs and Slack, with ChatGPT as my buddy.
I don't use AI for social content since I consider it cheating. For coding and general help yes, for content NO!
!BEER
Exactly, I also use it like that. I also use it for brainstorming ideas for my business. It's definitely a nice thing to use for coding. Thanks to AI, I also discovered Google App scripts and the possibilities that they offer.
The question that never goes away, well, what we can do is first review the DHF, see what can be done to need it less. I have already stopped voting on all proposals and voted only on the return proposal, I believe that everyone could do this as a form of protest.
Secondly, we should try to get our marketing right, somehow try to bring in new people by explaining how Hive has advantages that go beyond price. Of course, this is not easy; it is extremely difficult to build loyalty, but we must try, consult, come up with ideas, brainstorm how to do it.
And finally, continue with innovations like 3speak, which greatly improved your website, and Snapie, with the possibility of short videos, posting audios, and other features. All of this together can help make Hive great again.
I really have issues with how the DHF is used but I think that the low prices will actually help us to change things. With the help of AI, we can build tools and apps here, we just need to get started.
The only thing little normal users can do is show up and also only vote the return proposal nothing else.
The status quo will not be changed until they have bled the DHF dry.
I think that we need a mental shift and come away of the DHF drama. I agree it sucks and that it's normal how it is used but the only way out of that, other than a hard fork, is to go against the status quo. Build something that brings money in and then change the things in place. I just learned recently that within 12 months, AI will be able to do all the coding that specialists can do. What prevents us to build stuff on hive then?
Build what, and who will build it are pretty pivotal points. Bringing money in, is an interesting concept. If BTC falls and money keeps flowing out, some coins and chains are going to hit the dust. Maybe if the hard core Hivers are still using Hive, the longevity might just bring some new money from people who have pulled it from elsewhere. Who knows. AI is the future in coding, but the OGs here are so anti Hive. I used rafiki 3 on Inleo on Tuesday night, I asked about the Wolves Arsenal match a few minutes after it finished. It told me the score and wee match report. I know Khal et al over there are personas non grata on Hive, but they are showing that you can build things that are fun.
I think HIVE is great still. But to make it greater some marketing and education on basics would help, as well as dev's building new games and app's, and bridges to other chains.

What makes hive special in my opinion is that individuals can build stuff here that they couldn't in other environments. You are a good example. We often see this as a weakness because we believe that our projects are not professional enough but on the other hand, if the energy is there, things can evolve quite quickly without a centralised power needing to agree with it...
I totally agree!!

Exactly, using the stuff is the first step.
I believe Hive's greatest strength lies in its communities. Yet governance is based on individual wealth. So in order to make Hive great we need to start with the governance model. One person one vote for referendums. And routine administration through communities.
My fear is that if we don't do that, then other people will develop a similar community based blockchain with community based governance.
Or perhaps that's my wish rather than my fear? 😉
!BBH
I've seen a lot of similar projects being built but most of them collapsed. Hive is still around. The governance is not perfect but low prices might even out the game a bit.
I don't think there's anything bad/wrong about Hive. It's just that the price of Hive is low. In a way, Hive is still as it is when it was 0.50 or 1 dollar, except that they were more people in the community.
When prices drop, people stop posting. When prices go up, suddenly they come back... that's in the nature of things :-)
😂
Seeing how the price is plummeting, I think it's time to tighten the belt (or even strangling the belly at this rate). The DHF should stop all funding, some kind of auto vote/delegation reset should be pushed out with a fork of some sort to flush out all the old dormant accounts. Low KE ratio accounts should be downvoted to prevent even more drain.
I'm honestly against such measures like downvoting people with low KE. That's a recipe to kick even more people out of the chain. I think that the key is to be active and make hive a nice place to be. I agree that the DHF is not helping the price but too much energy is focused on that and we should forget that other tokens, even big ones like solana lost quite a lot of their value as well.

First crypto needs to survive...after that we think about what we can change to Hive...BTC also looking that is going down especially with our global moment
I think you raise a very interesting and necessary question at this time.
Hive has great potential, but to make it stand out again, we must focus on strengthening its community and promoting its use as an innovative tool.
A good idea would be to seek strategic alliances with other platforms or companies in the crypto ecosystem to increase Hive visibility.
