While Minecraft Dungeons spawns the same playful art style as the hugely popular series. This recently released dungeon crawler by Microsoft is anything but playful. From the beginning my expectations for a "fun" RPG with friends were surprisingly squashed when I found myself swinging at endless hordes of monsters trying to stay alive. I found a lot of boss fights required simple mechanics like dodging which was reminiscent of games from the 80's and 90's. I found myself reluctant to quit due to the scale of obtainable items available for unlocking the more I progressed. Some items within the game compliment each other offering the opportunity to create a class uniquely specific to a characters role. Team dynamics may play a role in higher tier levels which Minecraft Dungeons offers up to 4 player coop. The best thing about this game is it's FREE with
XBOX and PC game pass. Game pass offers a variety of A+++ games for a small monthly fee subscription. First time users can try it for $1.
