A bit of humor, but with an important message. The truth is that sometimes it feels like we are spinning our wheels on these discussions. I want to be fair, but I would lie if I was to say I understand this. Hence why I was remembering this joke a friend told me long ago.

Yes, this is about the DHF in case that is not clear. Can you blame me?

All we need is more cow bell!

@meno Good to bring some light-heartedness, in good faith of course, but for sure it's important to re-think fundamentals and not get bogged down in nit-picking and the little numbers.

I guess this is timely since I wanted to share with you this initiative for having a dedicated community to discuss ideas for improvements to the DHF in a more organized way. And to engage many folks in the discussions. Here it is described better (all subject to change, of course): https://peakd.com/hive-108763/@hive-108763/community-description-and-guidelines

Wanted to see what you think about it and if you would like to be a part of the community multisig. The idea is to get to multiple people (like 20+) co-owning the community.

I'll reach out on dms... I need more clarity

I don't think you're being a jerk at all. This is a great example of what I love about comedy: it can be a great mechanism for bringing some clarity and levity to topics that get clouded with emotions.

I haven't chimed in much on this, largely because my only stake in Hive is emotional. I have put in about $80USD, just to see how it would go for me, and the legal headaches it caused (I live in NY) just weren't worth it. My only participation in the Hive economy comes from what I post and vote.

I don't care too much about the Hive price, and I absolutely hate the idea of attracting users for the sole purpose of driving the price up. I like that Hive has enabled a bunch of people to get access to water, and I thought the idea of the rally car was a lot of fun. I'm a fan of rally racing, and I hope to someday get rally racing back in my area. I love that the people who've built this place have (mostly) been able to get paid for it.

Having said all that, I absolutely care about Hive staying afloat, and I'd happily burn everyone in all of those 'feel good' projects to keep it that way.

I don't participate much in these discussions, but I see things, and I think this joke hits the nail right on the head, with a meteor.

Fun projects are fun when you have fun money. Fun projects are a burden when you're struggling to keep the lights on, and they're impossible when you're struggling to eat.

There are enough people around the world using Hive to spread the word of Hive without spending any money.

There are enough working tools on Hive to keep people engaged, we don't need to spend money on projects that may never launch.

We need to perfect these things that we already have. We need to tighten and polish the infrastructure, so people can use these things reliably.

I get it, people want to find the greener grass, and nobody wants to do drudge work. Unfortunately, it looks like that's where we are. The power players here need to look up from their pet projects and remember where they were, and what their ideals were, when this place was built. You can't save a failing foundation by building more stuff on top of it.

If they don't get back to work on the foundations, I see more Blurts in our future.

this hit me, because the DHF talk often feels like we just rev the engine and go nowhere :) As an accountant, I keep looking for clear budgets, simple milestones and post updates, otherwise the value discussion just drifts. The humor helps, but the core is trust and measurements, without that the numbers dont adds up. fair to say I dont get all of it either, but tighter proposals and smaller trial budgets could cut the noise.
