Yes Alaska a deep red state has all the fundamentals of UBI. Well the rate changes and it can be around $2000 a year a bit higher or a bit lower but without a federal budget. Also imagine how many lives would be changed just from receiving $200 or $500 additional each month. For some this would be life changing.
Yes there is a misconception that ubi would be only welcomed by democrats and liberals. Again playing into the idea of socialism, lol.. The reality is many conservatives have absolutely no issue with giving americans money. They have an issue with government spending the peoples money. UBI is different. So you have the poster boy for conservative economics people like milton friedman who's idea was to give people free money who didn't make over a certain amount of money called it the negative income tax. However you flip it. it resulted in people getting money that they didn't earn. So not a huge difference granted they had jobs but we have many working poor who don't quite make enough to step over the poverty line so to speak.
So many don't quite understand these things. So they fall into like far right traps of oh this is socialism. However looking at the trump administration they had absolutely no problem sending out those stimulus checks.. Now i get it was what some would target an economic crisis. People receiving UBI atleast the programs i'm aware of the more modern day ones propose ubi based on the same grounds. An automation crisis as well as now the pandemic crisis. So even in their ideologies its not purely based on a citizens dividend like they have in Alaska. It's based on a crisis so i'd think that would make things better. if you believe when you go into your department stores the average job is a cashier worked by a 38 year old woman and you see now moreso than ever self checkout lines or payment kiosk systems. If you believe someone lost a job behind that then you'd maybe be more geared towards ideas like ubi may be needed. So it's alot to unpack with UBI and without getting too far into the economics i'll just speak to it's place in blockchain technology.
So let's be clear about one thing. Blockchain technology as far as movement of value goes is only good for one thing. Let me explain so if i were to send you a payment over the blockchain. You receive the payment it's not assured i can ever recover that payment again. if i'm a business doing credit card chargebacks can't do that. So now that makes blockchain tech an inferior payment system not so much a better one per se.
In UBI the best way to faciliate a payment will be over the blockchain it will be nearly free and effective to get to the people who need it. it only needs to move that one way and its job is done. So one of the best uses of the blockchain would be making ubi payments and you wouldn't want this handled by some sovereign government. this is where bitcoin myk comes in.
