If you try to live from crypto, you are living hard times at the moment... Markets look ugly, altcoins are demolished, and HIVE isn't an exception... Usually, when we go through this, something bigger has to happen, which breaks it even worse, but at least it marks the bottom... I don't want to paint the Devil on the wall, but it wouldn't be the first time to see some exchange become insolvent for engaging in shady business... As crypto is still kind of a Wild West, I bet there is a lot of manipulation in the background, and a lot of "paper Bitcoins" sold out there... That's why it's important to always keep your crypto in YOUR WALLETS for which YOU have YOUR KEYS!

Speaking of keys, that's actually the main topic of my "experimental" (video) shorts I have created... Bad times aren't only for ordinary people like you and me; the scammers and hackers are also having a hard time... They are desperate to find new victims and to take your hard-earned money!
Unfortunately, my friend @hallman was one of the victims just recently... He described what happened to him in this post, so check it out if you want to know the "practices" which nowadays scammers are using to get you!
Also, it's not a bad thing to try to stick to a few simple "rules" regarding managing crypto and keep yourself safe on the Internet...
- Always VERIFY things BEFORE sending/signing any transaction.
- Protect your private keys and seed phrase, and DON'T SEND them over the Internet ever! No legitimate support agent will ask you to send them your keys! NEVER!
- If someone promises you “Guaranteed Profits”, 100%, it's a scam! There is nothing guaranteed in crypto, or in LIFE! Sometimes, you will hear that from your friends too, but they aren't aware of that either...
Red flags in chats with impersonators:
- Urgency - We have to do this in 5-10 min... so hurry up
- Pressure to move the conversation on other chat/platform
- Need to do it through a "secure website", different from what you are using
- Strange terms... Sometimes, impersonators don't have enough knowledge about the platform or wallet
- Trying to confuse you, etc.
Thank you for your time.

PS. I have begun experimenting with video creation lately... The plan is to share things here on 3Speak/HIVE, but also on YouTube in the hope for more eyes on HIVE... In YT videos, I'm planning to link them to my HIVE profile in the description of them and see what happens... I will try to keep the focus on crypto-related stuff, so if you're keen to see what I'm cooking, check my YouTube account.

When my swap, hive to hive conversion stuck in beeswap ( now this service continued)
I got a scammer as Dcity support official and given me link and I was wondering that transaction is stuck in Hive and why someone need my metamask wallet keys when no metamask involved. I understood it is scammer and left the chat.

They are very fast to scam people! It's amazing, isn't it?
It would be great to see a REAL support being so fast...
I had a similar experience on Discord too. It had to do with one of the projects on Solana, and I made the mistake of asking for help in Discord. And was spammed by many "helpers" DM-ing me. It was my first time, and one of them sounded very professional, and then it was until one point, he told me to run some commands on my system under Windows > Run. Even though I am not very technical, I thought it was weird because why would this be related to a Solana project/wallet. And guess what.. I actually went to ask ChatGPT and Grok, if this was suspicious. And their response was it is highly likely suspicious and don't proceed. So I didn't proceed. :)
Wow! Asking to run a script on your own computer?! That was ambitious... lol... But, I suppose some people do fall for that... If not, they will not do it... 😞
It is frustating how far scammers will go when the market gets tough. I always take the time to verify everything and never give out my keys.
Verify things BEFORE doing anything is the best we can do... Maybe even consult with an online friend to check it out too.. 4 eyes are better than only 2... 😉
Exchanges can close between night and day, and you lose all your funds...
It's also true that if you keep them like on hive wallet and all witnesses stop intentionally, you lose them all still right?
I saw many exchanges going down on my crypto journey, and just a few blockchains that stopped... 😃 But, everything is possible...
You can never be too careful. It's always better to make sure that you are checking everything out. Never give someone access to your account. The scammers will just try to do everything they can to get your funds.
You are right... There is no "being too careful" in crypto! Re-check everything multiple times! I remember the Bybit hack a few months ago... When they can make a mistake, anyone can...
Just two days ago I had a big scare because of this user who scams accounts: @hive-reward
There is always someone trying to scam people... Not just on HIVE, but everywhere... 100% of those airdrops that you can see in Discord, being promoted by new accounts are FAKE and will try to SCAM you!
Always verify with someone you know and trust before interacting with such accounts!
I didn't see that ad on Discord, it was here on Hive, and my ignorance got me into a bad situation.
Thanks for your kind words! Hugs!
Noted.
Good to hear that! 🙂
The best thing is to verify with someone else before rushing into something!
Thanks for the timely reminder and tips!
Well, for some, it was too late, but luckily, raising awareness will help avoid similar things from happening to others... 😉
Yes, one avoided is one gain.
Obviously, traffic from Web2 is important.😀
It seems the time has come for me to activate an old YouTube account... 😎
Returning to YT feels like a betrayal of Web3... On the other side, we have to be active on both to "migrate" people to Web3... And I wasn't doing that until now... guilty! 😃
Truuuue words! Also I wanna agree with @seckorama - traffic from web2 is important and I appreciate you going on that experimental journey :D

I see you experimenting with the new frontends... 😃
Btw. how to "force" 3speak to "recognize" a video as shorts? Upload from specific frontend, aka Snapie?
Yesss :D
Yeah if you upload via snapie it will always be a short. On 3speak itself I think there is some check in the background if it is vertical and <60sec but I am not 100% sure about this. We are going to make improvements on sharing shorts on 3speak very soon and it will be 100% clear for the uploading user then!
To avoid scammer's protect your hive key with jealousy.
Hehehe... That's an interesting point of view... :)
