So what’s brewing in the lab? I’ve been laser-focused on setting up and optimizing video encoding infrastructure for 3Speak—making your uploads buttery-smooth, decentralized, and future-proof!
💡 Using @vaultec’s Open Source Goodness
Big shoutout to @vaultec for architecting and developing a totally decentralized, open source video encoding system. That’s what I’ve been using and running (almost) smoothly for the 3Speak community. It’s a great project, proudly supporting threespeak creators right here on Hive! 💪
But wait, plot twist! @eddiespino let me know that @meno has something even cooler in development.
🌟 Enter: @meno’s Shiny New Encoder Node
Today, I decided to make a drastic move and turned off all video encoder nodes—yep, every single one!
Here’s where my “genius” shone: I accidentally turned off my Hive-API node too.
And thus, I achieved peak facepalm! 👋😹 But hey, no worries—I’ll dust myself off and fix that next. First, back to the video encoders...
🌀 Debugging, Docker, and Dilemmas
I bravely cloned @meno’s encoder node on every machine in sight. Thought it’d be plug-and-play, but... NOPE!
Checked the browser and got smacked with the “red light district” of error messages. Everything was unforgivingly red.
My approach? I tossed the IPFS service in Docker Compose and restarted... Same red chaos. So, in true dev style, I forked the repo and am now patching and pushing fixes from my own lair! 🧑💻🔧

Alright, that’s where today’s adventure ends. The fight continues—fixing bugs, breaking (then fixing) nodes, all for the love of 3Speak and Hive! While you relax, I’ll be over here headbutting error logs and Docker containers for YOU! 🥲🥳
