I have not done one of these in a while. Our five chickens are all still fine, but are letting us down in egg production. They are more pets than productive.

Everything is growing like mad in the garden as I try to keep on top of it. We had heavy rain this week that will only encourage it.

As I said my son built the 'catio' for our foster cats. I hope it can get used soon.

I have been seeing colleagues again with visits to the office and drinks in London. There is a pub meet-up tomorrow, but I may not get to that one.

Hope everyone is doing well. Hive five!

Ours are various hybrids bred for egg production. We ought to get an egg almost every day from each chicken really.

Got a couple of Rhode Island reds, a bluebell and I don't remember what the others are.

Hey @aiovo, here is a little bit of BEER from @steevc for you. Enjoy it!

Leave a jar of this in their pen. That'll focus their minds on egg production!

At a few years old they might be a bit tough. I'd almost forgotten about Chicken Tonight.

My garden is getting just about to the end of its useful life this year. I will likely start pulling stuff out before long. Especially since we are supposed to see daytime temps in the 60's next week. I have a friend that is bringing me some garlic so I can get it in the ground before Winter.

I ought to look at what I can grow over winter or prepare for next year. I really am not a great gardener. I just try to keep it under control.

My friend says this is the best time of year to get your garlic in the ground. I have never had much luck, but I was using the wrong kind of garlic last time.

We did grow some garlic that did okay. Lots of factors such as the type of earth and the weather.

You should threaten those chickens into laying more eggs. A stern word about foxes might do it.

I've tried some hints about their options, but they just look at me demanding mealworms.

lol might as well try talking to them

Oh man thats cool you are raising chickens... I hope to do the same one day.

We've had some for a fair few years now. They are not too much trouble to care for, but egg production can be erratic. I doubt they save us money really.

The same thing happened to my mom's chickens, gradually reduced laying and then stopped all together.

I know they lay less as they get older, but some of these are not that old. I need to read up on what might be the problems. They seem healthy generally.

There are vitamins that could be given for it to come back up though

Seeing you with those chickens, reminds me of that one time my mum decided to start a poultry...let's just say it didn't go as planned 😅😅
