    It's fairly new technology, but not brand new. I tried it on myself 6/7 years ago. The dentist, rather than taking the dental impression with the usual paste which then hardens, takes the dental impression via a three-dimensional scan. So the dental impression is digital, it is transferred to the computer where you can see all the details by zooming. Then everything is printed with the 3D printer
