RE: HiveDebit Is a Reality for iOS!

in Threespeak2 months ago

I use the Crypto.com card here in Australia. It has to be the AUD to make the payment. a fiat..
Could we get a way to in-app swap HBD to fiat to use in retail or shopping? and vice versa.
With the HBD interest, I would love to put my money in HBD, and the rest I will use with the card.

Nop, in my own point of view (@jthomasewsky) I believe that if I focus on looking for fiat usability we are going to lose our cypherpunk ideas, I personally don't believe on using fiat will help us because I like the cypherpunk idea, but being honest using it will improve things, I would propose to the community under a vote to see what community thinks about, because basically I'm just a public employee, what community wants is what I will do, that's all I care about, so a consensus about it will put me in the right position to develop it or to don't do it, feel free to share your thoughts about it.

Thank you for the response.
I totally relate to the point of view, and it's what most of the Hive users motivate us to become: cypherpunk. However, until the finance world is intersected and not isolated, I still feel either auto conversion during payment or fiat can be a great use case for traction with the APP itself.
I will dissect what exists in the card world that I use. First, it's hard to make any card eligible in any country.
Selling points:
The interest on the cash balance, which comes around 5-6%.
Realistically, in the finance world, it's hard to ascertain. a cash balance of 5-6%.
Second, they offer cash-back rewards in fiat or their native currency.
Third, people use fiat currency to DCA on crypto investments.
If Hive Debit is used with 14% cash balance, it's an easy go for people to bring on investments.
Slowly, as money flows and yields begin to rise, we will see high accumulations in HBD.
It's a matter of time that would create interest pressure on HBD, or on Hive, but it serves as good traction.
