Commodities are an area of investing that can be very profitable. It also can be one where people lose their shirt.
One thing that I like to stress in this realm is that commodities tend to be cyclical. They move in cycles that can often be times. This is an arena where supply/demand are really all that matters. It is this "fundamental" which people make their decisions.
In this video I discuss some of the basics of commodities as well as what one can do to reduce some risk. Bear in mind that I believe if there is long term price elevation, it makes a commodity susceptible to technological advancement.

Until they tokenize them, commodities are certainly out of my league

Buy a bar of gold, tokenize it yourself, and sell off pieces of it.
Then you and a bunch of other investors can have a piece of the action.
Or you could take your best meme and do the same thing. I would start the market cap for that at $1 million though.

:)) Transforming memes into NFT isn't that far fetched :P

Hey man, I'm in the middle of reading the Splinterlands "Splintershards" whitepaper and I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this but I think we've interacted enough for you to expect, and hopefully grow comfortable with a little chaos :D so here goes...
First, if you don't mind, I highly suggest you read it. https://sps.splinterlands.com
I'd LOVE your take on this. Additionally, I've like to use it as an opportunity to offer you a little more insight into the game (not gameplay but the ecosystem that's springing up). It's truly going to be colossal, and not just for Hive. I think between projects like this, 3speak, and Leo finance, and all their respective counter parts (where one exists) we're watching and participating in the growth of a functioning proof of work for the way government and commerce work across the globe within just a decade or two if this taskmaster4450 lunatic I listen to actually has a clue :D
Since I bought a tract of land in the presale I was naturally drawn to the token distribution plan, and OMG I got so much more than what I expected. Not in terms of profitability, but, well, everything. Also, really happy about how profitable it looks like it's going to be. I don't mind coming clean. But the other stuff... the distribution strategy, the functionality. It's essentially going to players into board member. We will get voting control over the DAO (YEAH! We're getting our own DAO!) and control over the proposals we vote on.
I'm sorry. I'm not trying to hijack you post. This just got my spirit johnson all jacked up and out (it's like those things in Tremors but spectral and majestic, and ribbed why not) and I know you dig on stuff like this. I promise I'm going to watch this video and offer a proper take... I just gotta finish this white paper. Jesus, dude. I'm excited about technical writing. If that doesn't prove this place is fucking magical then everyone can just go to hell. :D
Edit: I watched this and sadly have nothing of value to contribute. I’ll do better tomorrow. 🤞
No problem. Yes it is a comment better suited for @leomarkettalk than an article.

Thanks man. I didn’t know that exists.
You don't have to buy puts if you don't want to. There are also inverse ETFs if you want to play the short side but you get more time decay compared to doing the normal ones.
