Excuse my ignorance, I'm a regular user on Hive, I know it seems like something innovative but I don't understand it. I would like simpler explanations so that users who are not tech-savvy can understand what all this means.
off-chain storage with incentives. basically means you can earn HBD for storing data on your home computer or laptop, which makes the system more decentralized. you cannot store big things on hive like videos, so we needed a way for people to earn for storing videos off of hive

Hey, I've not been on much over the pas year. What ever happened to all the tokens? It's been so long I can't even remember what they were called... SPK? Larynx? I think I had bought a bunch of them. They used to be on DLUX. Sorry for being totally out of the loop.
Anyone holding laranyx (I have the balances) will get free storage and or mining boosts (the same thing laranyx was for), so nothing changes, but instead of mining SPK, you are mining a stable coin HBD, which is better. Instead of forcing a gov token and using complicated L2s, it's all layer 1, even governance. So all in all, a much better product and result for all involved.

Great, great and great. So glad you went this route. You can have governance based on L1 tokens and any ruleset you wish. With some more discussion upfront, the whole development towards an L2 governance token could have been avoided, and SPK Network could have started this way back then. But better late than never. See the different feedback coming now, people are excited and get it right away, whereas when you announced the whitepaper with multiple L2 tokens back in the day, I remember people found it very confusing and overcomplicated. Stoked for this approach. :) And indeed, it's applicable to any sort of other apps, not just the SPK Network.
