Damn I just watched the entire thing trying to figure out why the hell I got mentioned here, and it's because I left a goddamn wall of text under the last episode; but I didn't find that out until the end.
I guess we're even now, so have another one:
Good show. Talking about Layer 2 options to counter downvotes at the end there. #vyb apparently set the payout window to 8 days, so using the tag would be similar to a form of what I would call, Downvote Insurance.
I'm not sure if that's the angle they're taking or even see it like that, but it seems smart. People can look into downvoted cases on day 8 and decide if it's worth upvoting to correct wrongfully placed downvotes, provided members used that Tribe or whatever they're called these days.
I'm honestly baffled when seeing people complain about these things when potential solutions are available and worth trying.
Hard NO on completely dismantling the base layer's support system (HIVE, HBD). That would absolutely fuck over the second layer and those tokenized communities would have nothing to fall back on. Then would have to start from scratch with no foundation. As it stands now we can support members and their work whether we're invested in their communities or not. That's decentralization in action right there. Money doesn't grow on trees. Can't expect people to buy into 1000 different communities then have the time to support all that. Each community becomes a single point of failure, the day it goes live, without a universal solution propping it up, tying everything together.
The shared consumer base alone is one of Hive's most valuable assets. Why fracture the market into a million tiny bits and pieces...
As it stands now if one were to post exclusively to a Layer 2 tokenized community, in many cases they'd be lucky to earn a penny; consumer/curator rewards would take 2000 years to grow into anything worthwhile. They're barely holding on on their own.
Nearly everyone would have to pick one or two tokenized communities, like gambling, ditch a huge pile of their HIVE in the process and it just snowballs into a complete shit show.
Hard NO on that ridiculous idea. Thanks, now my left eyelid is twitching...

It would be interesting to see Dan and Dan Larimer debate.
Larimer is one who things the solution is always better code. That is why most of his projects end up failing. Without community, it is impossible to go forward. Code needs to be secure but community is what provides resiliency.
