To increase knowledge and understanding of curriculum and classroom practices in the educational system, LAC or Learning Action Cell is hereby conducted monthly in every school or district. In this activity, teachers are allowed to share best practices and discuss teaching and learning practices that will improve the content and pedagogical performance of the teachers.

Good day, my dear hive friends. Today I will share the LAC Session I attended last Nov. 13, 2021, at Camoboan Elementary School. On the other hand, I am also assigned as the LAC facilitator by our Public School District Supervisor in revisiting DepEd Memorandum No. 008 series 2023 for applying uniform professional development in terms of the Classroom Observation Tool.

How to Get there!

Camoboan Elementary School is located in Camoboan, Tabogon, Cebu. My station which is Ilihan Integrated School, is about 14.5 kilometers away accessing Tobogon Road and Maslog Road via motorcycle or habal2 with a cost of more or less Php 250.00. Barangay Sambag, Salag, Tapul, and San Isidro are the adjacent Barangays of Camoboan. That was the first time I visited the school so I took pictures of the views while traveling because I was afraid that the driver was on the wrong way, but thanks to God, I arrived at the venue safely.

At the Venue

I arrived at the venue for almost 20 minutes. Upon arriving, I saw some children hurriedly greet me with a smile and kissed my hands. Some teacher participants from other schools also came in. When Im at the venue, I was surprised at how their school prepared the activity. The school was so clean. Grasses were well-trimmed and I couldn't see plastic scattered on the ground. I can also see the green scenery of the school for it was planted with ornamental, flowering, vegetables, fruit trees, and bananas. Even if the school is not so big, still they managed to maintain the school's cleanliness and orderliness. Therefore, it was an exact school to benchmark.

I saw my co-participants had their picture taken at the site with I💓 Camoboan as well as on the covered court. It was decorated with balloons making the area elegant and fabulous. Without any doubt, I took a pose there too.

The LAC Session Proper

When almost all of the participants arrived together with our Public School District Supervisor, we started the session. It was hosted by the articulate and brilliant school head in one of the public elementary schools in the district. The Lac Session commenced with a prayer followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

The school principal of the host school delivered her welcome messages and she discussed the qualities of a good leader. Then the master teacher of Camoboan Elementary School showcases the best practices of the school. After which was the discussion of Deped Order No.008 series 2013 and the revisiting of RPMS or the Results-Based Performance Management System. This is done to ensure that there will be uniformity in giving ratings to teachers' performances.

The topic was facilitated by the energetic and systematic Lead Secondary School Principal of the District, the enthusiastic school head of Daantabogon Elementary, the witty master 2 of Tabogon Central School, and yours truly. We discussed how the teachers earn their ratings based on the MOV presented and during the Classroom Observation. RPMS is not for teachers only but for all Government workers as the basis of giving their Performance Based Bonus. Aside from that, this is done to ensure that the teachers practice their teaching based on the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers.

Before the discussion of the next topic, we watched first the online meeting with our provincial governor and our Schools Division Superintendent about the Provincial Feeding Program of Governor Gwen Garcia. The meeting talked about the Launching of the Program which was hosted and to be held at the Tabogon Central School. When the meeting was done. The public Schools District Supervisor reminded some important issues and concerns to be attained by the school head like the utilization of school MOOE and other Funds like the PTA. Our District Bookeeper also shared to us the importance of checking documents like claims before submitting them to the accounting office. Her signatures is valuable before the accounting office will honor the said documents. The session ended at exactly 6:00 pm.

After the session was the giving of the Certificate of the LAC Facilitator and the photo opportunity. Sad to say that the covered court doesn't have lights so we kept on posing even if it was not a good shot. The activity was successfully done bringing a lot of knowledge and understanding of various issues and concerns. It was already late for our travel to go home but it was okay since the humble and very supportive school head of the school prepared our dinner. There were lechon and various dessert. We ended up with full stomachs and enjoyed the delightful foods prepared for us. Were so thankful to Camoboan Elementary School for being so generous and for the fabulous hosting of the activity. I am thankful for the opportunity since the LAC Session reminded me to be serious in our work and the implementation of every program and project initiated by our Department.

That's all for this blog. Thank you for reading and Mabuhay!
