A Class Project: Parade of the Significant Characters in the Life and Works of Rizal

Hello, my dear Hivers! It's @reshychannn here, and I am up for a short blog today. This blog is all about our class project way back in 2023, when I was still in my third year of college. Be with me, and let’s all look back on this wonderful memory.

I know every Filipino knows Dr. Jose Rizal because he is a significant person in our Philippine history. He was a well-known writer during his time. The most well-known novels that he wrote are Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. He is also considered as the Philippine national hero. In college, it is mandatory to study the life and works of Rizal as part of the curriculum. And this is where the wonderful memory begins.

As part of our partial requirement for the midterm for the course “The Life and Works of Rizal ,” we will be having a runway or parade of the characters from the life and works of Rizal. Basically, it’s like a cosplay of the characters.

Our instructor assigned each one of us a character to copy for the runway activity, and I was one of the “Malolos Women” along with my two classmates. Everybody had different characters. Some are happy with their characters, while others are not, because for them, it is very hard to copy the style and looks of some characters.

“The Malolos Women”

We prepared for the activity. We had a rehearsal at the covered court in our school, and we all rented clothes and dresses that were similar to our characters. Mine was not hard to find since Malolos women only wore Filipiniana. Lucky for me, I only rented the dress for ₱100.00, while others rented theirs for ₱300.00 to ₱500.00 in the price range. That is very expensive, but they don’t have a choice since it is for our activity and grades.

On the day of the event, everyone was anticipating and excited because we all got to dress ourselves to look similar to our assigned characters. I even got to do the makeovers of my closest friends. There were two sections present in the activity since we both have the same instructor for this course or subject. Everybody looked great in their costumes.

The event started, and everyone lined up and waited for their characters to be called so they can make their way to the runway to showcase their assigned characters. It was a very enjoyable moment.

There were also judges to rate us and give us our grades for this activity. Everyone really put in their effort for this activity and gave their all to execute their best performance. I can see the smiling faces of the students and the teachers who were at the activity. We even received so much praise because they loved and appreciated our efforts for this kind of activity.

After everyone had their turn on the runway, we had a unity dance. We danced on the covered court, and we had a lot of fun. After that, we had a photo opportunity so we can have something to keep and look back on.

It was just a very short activity, but it became an unforgettable memory for us. This is just one of the ways to give importance to and show appreciation for Rizal’s work, as well as to teach the students about its significant history.

Thank you so much for reading this blog! If you can relate to this blog, maybe we could have the same class project, feel free to share your thoughts or your experiences.

I’ll see you on my next blog soon!

You're welcome @reshychannn! Have a nice day 🌹

You all look great in your costumes, @reshychannn! I believe this isn't just a simple role play but encompasses a bunch of learnings. 'Life and Works of Rizal' is indeed one of the notable minor subjects I had before, because we've been challenged to have a debate, and it was a blast, super challenging and fun! 🤝

Thank youuu, @jeannmazing! Everybody really had different activities when it comes to the Life and Works of Rizal. We had our debate too, but it was just inside the classroom for a few minutes. 💖

That was fun not until our grades were released 😂💕

Shhhh! HAHHAHAHHA efforts was praised, but was not rewarded🥲

Superb outcome of your project. I remembered my college days as the director of our play on Rizal's life and works. Congratulations to all of you. 🫶

Thank you so much sir, @cup-bearer! We really prepared for this project, and fortunately, it came out better than we expected.

We also had our play during our final term but it was a disaster hahahaha

Good job to you Ma'am @reshychannn and your classmates. You really rented a Filipiniana for the class role play. All of you portrait well the characters in the life of Dr. Jose Rizal. 100/100 Bravo!
