Well said, going along to get along basically means that we're willing to suffer the consequences for petty "benefits." I don't know, there is a bible analogy in there too. Something about selling one's birthright for a bowl of soup. Point of the fact is that a simple cost benefit analysis shows us, it isn't worth it.
