When the Japanese sweet potatoes are being prepared he gets so giddy and excited even before he sees them as his sense of smell is incredible for obvious reasons as his breed, dachshund was bred previously to root out small animals for hunting purposes.
He can use his 125 million scent receptors to sniff out a sweet potato in the oven. And he follows everyone around until he gets his share when the sweet potatoes are out of the oven.
It's great to see him so happy now that Japanese sweet potatoes are in season.
