The month of September and so far in October were characterized by a certain regularity in the rains, which has favored the recovery of my site. Fortunately, the star currant trees were once again dressed in leaves, since the plague of worms left them completely naked, the bananas and topochos turned green and even loaded. Currently I have 4 plants of topochos with fruits, (since the acorn blooms, the clusters take 4 months to be ready for harvest). Three of my babana plants fruited poorly due to a problem with a very strong pest, so barely each cluster has 3 "hands" or groups of fruit. Now, from one of the largest plants, at the end of September a huge acorn came out, which flowered on October 6, that is, by February 6 I will be able to harvest it and this acorn is big, so I decided to photograph it and share it with you.
Here you can see a full-length photo of the topocho acorn and the next photo is a detail of the pegones (Trigona spinipes) sucking their flowers. It already has 5 "hands" of fruit, I hope it produces at least 7 or 8 "hands" which is normal, and not 2 or 3 like the other plants that were sick. I must say that for all musaceae to bear fruit properly, they must receive nutrition, hydration and care since the plant is a horn or seed, that is, from a very young age, because the fruits are formed in their nucleus and it is the equivalent of the children's teeth, which form from babies even though they emerge at 5 or 6 years of age.
So far my participation today goes, I hope it has been pleasant for all of you. A big hug.
