Very interesting effect. Never knew about the lens before

on Nikon is hard to use it (adapter does not allow infinite focus), now on Sony i think you could. most common is m42 mount. Most popular for modifications are 44-2 and 44-4 (bigger the number newer lens). They made a lot of them so you can find one for 20-30$

Helios overall is interesting, but it is manual focus lens. There is 85mm f/1.5 that is also quite popular. in the right conditions you get this swirly bokeh. It looks interesting.

Need to borrow that lens to do some portraits.

That lens is freakin epic! The center focus but then the blurred pattern around it look very nice.

it is fun. and easy to mod. need to do some comparing shots with front element turned and normal.

Very cool! We have these same blooms in our yard! I'll have to take the ole' helios for a run!

thanks. helios is fun at spring :)

Cool! Did you reverse the front element? I think I'll try it.

yes. i tried reversing rear also but it does not do anything interesting. i seen that removing it gives something interesting. will have to test it.

hello @bil.prag,
the pictures are really amazing they look out of this world I think the next nature pictures will be even cooler.

thanks.
thing is with this modification you can only take photos on specific distance to get the effect, so it is hard to do a to much different things.

Cool shot!
