RE: NFT ART IS USELESS ... unless it comes with Rights or Utility

in PHOTOGRAPHY [DAC]3 years ago

I was wondering what interesting photo NFT features would be. So i'll brainstorm outloud

  • Obviously the interface should allow a creator to select from various types of photo rights
  • Rights that would help stock users would be awesome and there really isn't anything that is positioned to appeal to those people. The most common stock right that people want is the right to use a digital image on a business website.
  • Private access to a larger size file would be a cool feature.
  • Maybe if you had a bigger numbered edition you could say they could burn 5 of that NFT and upgrade to an NFT with additional rights? Or simply say it on the NFT description... "If you own 10 personal use editions you get a commercial reproduction copyright"
  • Maybe if they had more of one NFT type it entitles them to print a larger image? More editions = larger printable?
  • One interesting feature would be to inform the user they get a coupon code to a free physical print on your website (assuming you have a website that can fulfill something like that) I have a site where i could have a $100 gift card and they could print whatever. So having an NFT start at like $150-200 would be pretty cool.
  • I could envision someone selling an NFT that entitles the owner to a photoshoot if they burn it?
  • There are NFTs out there that allow the creator to insert crypto inside of it meaning if you burn it you get crypto back. I'm guessing that's on ETH.
  • I've seen some NFTs promise to help charitable causes if the NFT is purchased.

Well, I created my first NFT today! We'll see how it goes... The uploading was simple and there were more TOS I had to agree to.

Interface upgrades are definitely needed as well as more rights options, but I'm glad I got it done.
Private access to a larger file is possible, but I believe I accidentally uploaded a full res as the preview so I think it can actually be downloaded without purchasing, lol. Not that big of a deal for this particular image.

I really like the idea of offering a print with the purchase of an NFT, something I have been thinking about as well but didn't do it for this first one.

A coupon code or note can be added and sent to the buyer. I thought about doing this as well but not on this first one...

Charitable causes would be great! Might be hard to enforce but definitely could be advertised in the description.

More to learn... Have a great day!

One guy is selling a physical art work along with the nft. I questioned him and he expects the buyer to sell the physical artwork and nft . I like the idea. Would that work? What are the pros and cons of selling physical artwork along with nft?

What happens when someone performs the transaction, and doesn't get the artwork, or vice versa?
