I want to contribute to the question," Is Mary a descendant of David or Aaron ( Part 1 of 3).
Biblically, how does the scriptures support claims about blessed Mary's Davidic descent?
How could she have descended from David's lineage and Judah's tribe when she is in fact, cousin of Elizabeth who was one of the daughters of the Levite Aaron?
Just like an African race, is there any verse in the Bible that can support the claim that ; Levite is a pure race.
When you read the entire Bible, you will find out that the descendants of Abraham had an intermingling between the race of the tribes of Israel.
In essence, if you are a son of the Aaron, you are considered a Levite.
But on the woman side, you are not sure . Because there are instances in the Bible , where the daughter of the Levite can marry from other tribes .
For the book of Matthew 1:18-24 tells us the story of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ in the flesh by Blessed Mary and Joseph.
The nation of Israel began with a man named Jacob, who had 12 sons. Each of these sons had more descendants—eventually leading to a single nation of 12 tribes (Genesis 49:28). A few of these tribes achieved certain significance in the story of the Bible, the two most significant being Judah and Levi.
If you believe in the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ came from the tribe of Judah.
Hebrews 7:14, NIV: "For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests."
Luke specifically says that Joseph is a descendant of David ;and therefore, Judah (Lk 1:27).Mary’s relatives, Zechariah and Elizabeth, were Levites (Lk 1:5, 36).
And not just any Levites! Elizabeth was a descendant of Aaron: the first high priest of Israel and the older brother of Moses.
From the question, Elizabeth was one of the daughters of the levite Aaron, it doe's not mean because Mary is a cousin of Elizabeth, that Mary is also a levite.
Though there are instances, where you have cousins that are not from your tribe.
