What is baptism in the Bible? (Part 2 of 3)

Hello brethren,

I want to contribute to the topic "what is the baptism in the Bible"? ( part 2 of 3)

In Matthew 3:11, John the Baptist mentions the purpose of his baptisms: “I baptize you with water for repentance.” Paul affirms this in Acts 19:4: “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance.

It is not only in River Jordan that John the Baptist baptized. According to the book of John 3:23" And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized."

In essence, this means that baptism must not only take place in river Jordan.

John decided to baptize people in aenon because there was much water there.

It is not necessary for those that are far from river Jordan ,those that can't even afford food to eat or ,pay the transport fare, travel to river Jordan or Israel inorder to be baptized.

1Peter 3:20" to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,"

1Peter 3:21"and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ"

The whole earth was covered with water. All wicked people were wiped out.

When the earth was flooded people either lived or died. That was the judgement. If you didn't follow what God said and weren't in the ark with Noah, then you died.

Baptism is really a step to salvation.Baptism does not save us. God saves us by grace through faith.

But baptism is closely linked to that as a picture of it. In 1 Peter 3:21 we read: “Baptism, which corresponds to this ( the waters of the flood in Noah’s time), now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Remember the book of Mark 10:39 says " And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized"

Brethren let us follow the manner of baptism ; at which Jesus was baptized and not the place of baptism, because baptism can take place anywhere and not only in River Jordan.

Thanks for reading.
