I want to contribute to the topic" What is the faith of the thief on the cross written in Luke 23: 42-43 ?( Part 5 of 7).
As long as we live,we need to do good works that will qualify us to live eternal life.
Matthew 7:24" Therefore whosoever heareth these saying of mine, and doeth them, I will like him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
You all know that what our Lord Jesus Christ was our good works, when he said love your enemy in the book Matthew 5:44.
Feeding them when they are hungry and giving them water when they are thirsty, are all good works.
Matthew 7:25" And the rain descended, and the floods came and the winds blew, and neat upon that house;, and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock.
Matthew 7: 26" And everyone that heareth these saying of mine and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Verse 27" And the rain descended, and the floods came and the wind blew, and beat upon the house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it".
So there's a great force coming for those that doesn't want to do good works anymore.
But to be exalting and worshipping God shouting hosanna, without doing good works.
The real truth in the Bible is that we have to work, we have to do good works everytime for us to be saved by our faith.
For the book of James 2:22 says" seest thou how faith wrought with his work and by works was faith made perfect?
It is true that you will be saved by faith .
What kind of faith will save you?
It is only faith accompanied with good works can save you. For faith without works is dead.
James 2:27" For as the body without the spirit is dead ,so Faith without works is dead also.
Brethren, we can't be saved with a dead faith. Our faith needs to be accompanied by good works and vice versa.
