Some people think it's okay to be baptized more than once. But when we look closely at the Bible, we see that baptism is meant to happen only once. Being baptized twice is not part of true Christian teaching.
Let’s be honest anyone who agrees with being baptized twice may not fully understand what baptism truly means. If Jesus Christ, who is without sin, was baptized only once, why should anyone need it more than once? None of us is holier than Christ.
The Bible even warns us about following man-made ideas. In Mark 7:7, it says:
"They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules."
So, what is baptism really about?
Baptism is a deep spiritual act. It’s not just a ceremony. It’s the moment when a person turns away from their past sins and chooses to live a new life a life that follows Jesus.
It is called the remission of sins, which means your sins are washed away, and you start fresh. That’s why baptism is serious and shouldn’t be rushed.
Once you're baptized, it should be a once-in-a-lifetime decision. It means you've fully decided to leave behind your old ways and begin living for Christ. You should begin to show what we can call a gospel attitude doing things that please God and reflect Jesus in your life.
If you truly understand what baptism stands for, you will know that it doesn’t need to be repeated. Getting baptized again would mean you didn’t take the first one seriously, or you didn’t understand its purpose.
So before anyone decides to be baptized, they should be ready. Ready to surrender to Christ. Ready to live a new life. And once that decision is made, there should be no turning back.
One true baptism is enough just like it was for Jesus Christ.
