Our Lord Jesus Christ has made it clear that genuine peace is found only in Him. In a world marked by sin, confusion, and unrest, true and lasting peace cannot exist apart from Christ. Any peace offered by the world is temporary and incomplete, but the peace that comes from Jesus is enduring and rooted in truth.
As Jesus declared in John 16:33, He spoke these words so that we might have peace in Him. He also warned that life in this world would include tribulations and hardships. However, He encouraged His followers to remain confident and courageous because He has already overcome the world. Through this assurance, Christ prepares us to face trials without losing hope, knowing that our peace does not depend on circumstances but on His victory.
The prophet Isaiah also confirms this truth. In Isaiah 57:19–21, God promises peace and healing to those who turn to Him, whether they are near or far. At the same time, Scripture reveals that the wicked are like a restless sea—unable to find calm and continually producing turmoil and corruption. God clearly states that there is no peace for those who persist in wickedness.
Jesus therefore stands as the source and embodiment of true peace. He teaches that peace is not meant for those who reject righteousness, but for those who receive Him and walk according to God’s will. Those who follow Christ can experience His peace even while living in a broken and sinful world.
In 2 Peter 2:7, the Bible describes righteous Lot, whose soul was deeply troubled by the immoral behavior of the people around him. His story serves as a warning about the danger of dwelling among persistent wickedness, as seen in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, where Lot was continually distressed by their sinful practices.
Finally, 1 John 2:15–16 cautions believers not to love the world or the things in it. Worldly desires the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life do not come from God but from the world. We are therefore called to guard our hearts, for true peace, fulfillment, and love are found only in God.
