victory mentality

Source.

There are two types of individuals in this world right now: those who have a victim mentality and those who have a victory mentality. Whenever they go, those with a victory mentality exude victory. They demand the best, plan for the best, and expect the best. They never accept anything less. They constantly see the bright side of things. They can overcome any obstacle and are never defeated.

Such people never give up when things get tough. They are winners at heart and as such, they expect victory always.

One man in the Bible that demonstrated this mentality is David. We can find the Bible account in the book of 1 Samuel 17.

David developed a victory mentality right from childhood. His heart was so strong and established in a victory that even the loud scary threat of a giant named Goliath could not move him.

He spoke confidently to Goliath. Let's read from the Bible.

1 Samuel 17:45 (KJV) Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

David armed himself with confidence in the Lord God Almighty. He faced Goliath with faith and assurance that God was going to grant him victory. in 1 Samuel 17:46 (KJV) This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. What a mentality!

A man with a victory mentality always has a winning answer for every discouraging circumstance. As Christians, we need to follow the example of David and learn to have faith in God in every situation. Our confession should always match our actions. If you are not bold enough to show people your confidence in God through your daily life, you will not be bold enough to tell them about the God you serve. Also, you will not be bold enough to face the tough challenges of this life.

We have a lot to learn from the life of David right from the time he stepped into the battleground up to the time he defeated Goliath.

Some of the lessons we can learn from the account are:

1. The little battle you won today prepare you for a bigger victory tomorrow.

Never run away from any challenge, they help to equip you for a bigger victory in the future. We can read David's response to King Saul:

1 Samuel 17:34-37 (KJV)
And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

The encounter with the lion and bear equipped David with a victory mentality to face Goliath.

2. Winning a battle is not a function of what you arm yourself with on the outside, but of what you arm yourself with on the inside.

David was confident in the God that he serves. He understands the dynamic of battle, that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God.

A victory mentality is all we need as Christians to face the daily challenges of life. Our conference in God to give us victory over life's challenges must be resolute and firm.
