There are people who hear the word of God buy it's difficult for them to listen to it. One thing is to hear and another is to listen attentively, the real meaning of listen is to pay good attention to what you heard.
Many people in our generation have turned themselves to idols by hearing but not listening to the word of God. They make their selves living idols, they are alive but cannot listen to the of God.
In the book of Psalms 115:4-5 we see that the idols carved by men have eyes but can't see, they have nose but can't smell anything, they have mouth but can't speak, legs have they but can't move etc. The bible tells us that those who worship them are like them because a blind man can't lead a blind man. The world today is full of idol worshippers, that's why they hear but can't listen to God's word because the evil one have blocked their ears from listening to the gospel of Christ.
As christians, we ought not to think that our God is like a gold, or silver or stone, graven by art or man's device by making idols or worshipping them. There's no divinity in those idols, and anyone who make or trust in them will be like them, for the bible says that those that worship them are like them.
As believers let us not make ourselves a living idols by hearing but not listening to God's word. Let's worship God in holiness and follow all his commandments and teaching in order to have eternal life.
