When we talk about being engaged and getting baptized, the are far from eachother. Baptism is done when you have given your life to Christ as a believer, you get baptized while getting engaged is something of the flesh, it is sensual. It is asking for someone's hand in marriage. And that is why getting baptized has now dealing with getting married or engaged to someone.
To all believers and those who follow the footsteps of our lord Jesus Christ, it is very important to get baptized just as the way Jesus Christ was baptized by John the baptist Jordan river. And it is not a must for you to be baptized before getting married because there is no where in the bible that states that, so there for a pastor who refuses not to join join a man and a woman because they are not married is going against God's will.
So in order to answer the call of divinity, you have to be baptized if you truly are a child of God but you should not allow that to stop you from proceeding with your engagement because they are two different things entirely.
