We are being reminded that not every hardship or affliction that we experience here is a punishment from God. People are quick to assume that suffering means that God is angry with us or he has abandoned us.
Brother Eli clearly show us that it is not always the case. In fact, God is loving and compassionate and he does not take pleasure in seeing children suffer. So many of our hardships we face today are just the result of being disobedient and square to others.
We are against those who afflict the poor and those who take advantage of those who are weak. He hates oppression and injustice by all means. However, when God allows all these trials in our life, it is not just to destroy us but to strengthen our faith and to even teach us patience.
Brother Eli explained that tribulation produces patience. Experience leads to suffering. Just like other farmers who labor to this season to enjoy the fruits of the harvest, we too must endure and be faithful during these trials.
Christ himself suffered and he was able to overcome this world. So this is our greatest encouragement. We should know that with God, our suffering can never go in vain in this life.
