Learning how to forgive isn't always easy, especially when the pain runs deep. But through this MCGI topic, I’ve come to see that forgiveness is more about setting ourselves free than letting others off the hook. It’s a healing process both spiritually and emotionally. We often hold onto anger or resentment thinking it protects us, but it only weighs us down and blocks our growth. The teaching made it clear that real forgiveness is not just about words, it’s a decision we make with our hearts.
The lesson reminded me that forgiving others is not optional for a Christian it’s a commandment. Christ forgave those who crucified Him, and He expects us to do the same. The teaching pointed out that when we forgive, we reflect God’s character. It takes humility and love to forgive someone who wronged you, but it’s also one of the most powerful things a person can do. I was particularly struck by the idea that forgiving others allows God to forgive us too, as emphasized in Matthew 6:14–15.
What I found most comforting in the MCGI discussion is that forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting or pretending the hurt never happened. It’s about choosing peace over pain and growth over grudges. The topic gave practical insights on how to pray for those who hurt us and ask God to heal our hearts. It’s a journey, but it’s worth it for our own freedom and for our relationship with God.
Forgive one another so that God can also forgive you.
