Here are some of the highlighted lessons i learnt from the live thanksgiving on the 4th of September 2021.
It is very important to be hearers and doers of the law of Christ, the law should be fulfilled through us not just passive learners. We should also learn to obey the commandments of God, not just outwardly but inwardly In our hearts we should always strive to please God at all times because we can never know the day we would die, only God does which is why it’s important to always walk in the path He has prepared for us so that death won’t take us unaware.
Psalm 90:11-12 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
When walking in Christ it is essential to dwell in His presence at all times this would enable us renew our hearts in Him, one easy way to establish this is to be present in Church or to always carry a heart of devotion.
Psalm 27:4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
We have a duty which has been given unto us that we should expel anybody that does not obey the commandment of God after the first and the second mistake, because it’s clear they don’t want to take correction. Better to remove on bad tomatoes, than to watch it spoil the rest.
The wisdom of God is pure and it is essential as christians to seek wisdom from God because only Him can show us His deep secrets.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
The wisdom of God will teach us God’s law and will also direct our path, this law of God is very vital and we should carry it in our heart at all times, gone are the days that the law be written on stones, now we should always carry it in our hearts so as to be in God's presence every moment of our lives
Proverbs 3:1-4 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
He who gets a spouse obtains favor from the Lord, therefore the church which is the spouse of Christ is highly favored.
Proverbs 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.
Just as we get married and 2 becomes 1, so also, We are married to Christ as members of the Church.
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
The essence of the brotherhood is to feel the care of one another and love one another, God is concerned about the widows and the fatherless and we can see this in the book of
Psalm 68:5-6 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
6 God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
As sons and daughters of God we should learn to visit the motherless babies home and also widows because they have no one to take care of them and it is our duty to take care of them as God has instructed us to, this is an example on the good works that we are instructed to perform.
James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Acts 2:44-47 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
