These are some of the lessons picked up from today’s Mass Indoctrination that took place in zoom on the 6th of August 2021.
During the indoctrination, Brother Eli mentioned that we should not invite the enemy into our homes because he is the one who breaks the home, It is important for us to follow the doctrine of Christ and use that as our guide in out families and everyday life.
He spoke about the role and importance of fasting in the family, it is essential to fast for the growth of the family, interceding for sick person in the family, to get a new job, for your business growth and many other applications.
There are certain things we need to follow when fasting and we can see this in the book of
Matthew 6:16-18 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
Brother Eli also corrected the notion that the Bible is not against sex in a marriage, you only abstain from sex during the time of fasting, this has many benefits one key benefit is that it helps your prayer to be answered quickly, it grows the husband and wife spiritually when they fast together and both keep themselves from sex during fasting. Husband and wife have equal right over each others body but they should learn to abstain during fasting.
Fasting should be done in secret according to the teachings of Christ, it should be just you and Christ.
When fasting, there are certain things we should do to accompany the fasting, also giving your bread to those that are hungry, giving clothes to the needy. You can find this in the book of
Isaiah 58:6-7 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
Brother Eli also talked about dress code for women when stepping outside, it is obvious that as a married woman, if you expose your body you can appear lustful to other men and your body is for your partner alone. It is only someone who has no discipline that sell themselves openly. We can find this in
Matthew 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
2 peter 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
There are also certain key roles that the bible has assigned for the husband and for the wife. One of such is the role of providing for the family, this is for the husband and the bible mentioned that a man who cannot provide for his family is worst than an infidel.
1 timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
Wives are instructed to obey their husband. If they both follow the doctrine of Christ in the family, both of them can be cleansed and also their children would be brought up rightfully.
