To contribute to the Question: Can a security guard use weapons to kill for self-protection?

The primary responsibility of any security guard or armed forces is to protect lives and properties.
Live should be precious to security guards as it is precious to God.
The arms given to security guards are for personal defence and for the defence of others against criminal elements in the society.

A situation can arise where a security guard mistakenly kills a criminal. The the law and even the Bible recognise it as self-defence.

In Numbers 35:10 -16;

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;
Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.
And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.
And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.
Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.
These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.
And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

In the land of refugee, if anyone revenge an accident, that person must be killed by stone to death.

A place of refuge was set up for those who mistakenly kill while defending themselves and others. So they're to run in there to be protected against mob and to await their judgement, but those who kill intentionally should be stoned to death.

So self-defence is recognised by God and the law,
However, the advice for security guards is that they should apply wisdom in the handling of their weapons. Live is so precious to God. They should rather than killing a criminal, disarm him, arrest and hand him over to the law for the law to decide his fate. Please don't be quick to kill.
