LESSONS FROM WORSHIP SERVICE HELD ON 30TH JULY, VIA ZOOM

From Matthew 5:44, the Bible says;

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you

It is clear that our love for others shouldn't be a lip kind of love, but love accompanied with good works.
It is God's plan for us to love all men, even our enemies.

We should love and help Everyone around us according to Galatians 6:2

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Love is the greatest of all as recorded in 1 Corinthians 13:13

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Our love shouldn't be in words alone, but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:18

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
Love should be accompanied with good works.

When we do good to the poor, we lend to the lord.
Proverbs 19:17

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

James 2:22

Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
Faith is always accompanied with works

James 2:13-18

For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

We should be merciful, but our mercy, hope, and love should be accompanied with good works.
Our pity is barren without good works.

Thanks be to God.
