Greetings everyone, and welcome to my blog. It is another wonderful opportunity to listen to the word of God through His servant, Bro. Eli Soriano.
Many people believe that because some men in the Bible had multiple wives, God approved of polygamy. However, when we carefully study the scriptures, we can see that polygamy often brought pain, conflict, and spiritual problems. The lives of King David and King Solomon are clear examples of this reality. Although they were powerful kings with authority and wealth, their decision to marry many women did not reflect God’s original plan for marriage.
David experienced serious consequences because of his sinful actions. His choices brought sorrow into his household and caused suffering within his family. In the same way, Solomon allowed his many marriages to influence his relationship with God negatively. The Bible says in 1 Kings 11:3 that Solomon had hundreds of wives and concubines, and they eventually turned his heart away from serving God completely. Instead of remaining faithful, he followed practices that displeased God.
These examples teach Christians an important lesson about obedience and wise decision-making. God gives every person the freedom to choose, but wrong decisions often lead to painful consequences. Deuteronomy 30:19 reminds us that God places before humanity the choice between life and death, blessings and curses, encouraging people to choose the right path.
From the beginning, God designed marriage to be a union between one man and one woman, built on love, faithfulness, peace, and mutual respect. Polygamy may have been practiced in ancient times, but it often created jealousy, division, and spiritual weakness among families.
Therefore, Christians are encouraged to follow God’s ideal pattern for marriage by remaining faithful to one spouse. A peaceful and God-centered home is more likely to grow when husband and wife live in unity, love, and obedience to God’s instructions.
