The giants mentioned in Genesis 6:4 were not ordinary humans. Their existence came from a unique union between two different beings: the sons of God and the daughters of men. This means these giants were a hybrid offspring, not produced through normal human birth.
Unlike the scientific explanation of giants today which usually involves abnormalities such as excessive growth hormones from the pituitary gland these ancient giants were described as strong, mighty, and renowned. They were not weak or defective, but powerful individuals known for their extraordinary strength.
Genesis 6:1–5 explains that as the population on earth grew, the sons of God noticed the beauty of human women and chose them as wives. Their union produced mighty men, giants, who became famous in ancient times. However, this mixing displeased God because of the increasing wickedness of humanity, leading Him to set a limit on human lifes
The Scripture makes it clear that these giants were not regular humans. They were the result of the interbreeding between angels referred to as the sons of God and human women.
This idea is supported again in Job 38:4–7, where the “morning stars” and the “sons of God” are identified as angels who existed long before humans. They rejoiced during the creation of the world, showing that they were present from the beginning. Later, some of them desired human women and sought relationships with them.
