THE CONCEPT OF PAYING TITHES

This notion of paying tithe is something that I myself do question. I am a believer but most times, I question the fact that I need to pay tithes when the word of God is free.

Thankfully, brother Eli Soriano has given an indebt explanation about how tithe works, it's origin and wether or not we must pay tithes.

According to Brother Eli Soriano, The gospel is to be preached freely. No payment, whatsoever is to be made.

Christians do not need to pay for anything. Everything is to be received freely. We should not make a payment in any form to receive the doctrines of Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:7 Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?

The Bible however mentioned that we should pay tithes.

Hebrews 7:9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

However, giving tithes is something we must do. Its like an obligation for us to carry out. Even the children of Israelites paid tithes to the house of Levi. This is something we are obliged to do.

There are a set of people who are commanded by God to receive tithes from us, Christians. Let's see the book of Hebrews.

Hebrews 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

These people are the priest. they are commanded by God to receive tithes according to he law.

When they were sharing things to twelve tribes of isreal, the Levi received none. Based on this, God commanded that the 10 percent earnings of the 11 tribes be handed down to the Levi as tithe.

Numbers 18:21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Now, a changed happen along the line. What's this change? Let's find out in the book of Hebrews.

Hebrews 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

From being the levitical priesthood, Everything was changed to being he priesthood of Christ.

Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; 3:2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. 3:3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

The priest that was changed is Moses. Moses and all the other priesthood was changed and it became the priesthood of christ.

Hebrews 7:23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: 7:24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

The reason for this change is because these priest were not allowed to continue by reason of death. But Christ ascend to being the high priest and continued by reason of death.

This was the teachings from the video which have made me get a good understanding about tithes. I hope to get more from the next video.

Thank you for reading and may God bless you.
