Scriptures: Matthew 13:3–8, Luke 8:11–12, Romans 2:4, 1 Peter 5:8, Ephesians 2:11–13, Acts 13:7–10, Ezekiel 36:26–28
When you receive the word of God, what you do after it matters a lot. So what then do you do after receiving God's word? In today's teaching, we are presented with four different scenarios of what happens when people receive God's word. In the book of Matthew 13 verse 3, down to 8, we consider a parable concerning a sower. It tells us of how he went on sowing seeds; these seed is the word of God.
The parable being narrated in this scripture is what practically happens in our world today. In the book of Luke 8:11–15, we see the interpretation of the parable narrated in Matthew. People have been receiving the word of God right from time. However, there are different attitudes of people after they hear God's word.
If someone desires to accept the word of God, the devil might send someone to prevent it from happening.
Acts 13:7 - Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
8 - But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
People may receive they word of God but then their lives may still end up being the same. The Devil puts in effort to make sure that the word being received by people doesn't have an effect in their lives. The devil knows the benefits of God's word and would do anything in his power to avoid it from having impact in the lives of people.
But with strong desire and resilience, it is possible to receive God's word and allow it to bear fruit in you.
