MCGI Topic Review | Being a peacemaker According to the bible.

Peace making is one of the most beautiful things that the bible teaches and when I think hard, I realize that it is not an easy or casual thing. God has a solemn duty that He requires of His children. In Matthew 5: 9 Bible says, blessed are the peacemakers who shall be called the children of God.

It implies that any person who opts to live a peaceful life, encourages peace, and propagates peace has already found himself or herself in the footsteps of God. The more time I thought about this subject, the more I understood being a peacemaker does not mean fighting. It is concerning bearing the spirit of God in our deeds and choices.

My first step to becoming a peacemaker will be getting to know that peace starts within the heart. When one lacks peace of mind, he or she can never offer peace to others. In Philippians 4: 7, the Bible states that peace of God that surpasses all understanding shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

When the peace of God pervades my heart, I am peaceful, tender, and tolerant even under stressful circumstances. This peace of mind enables one to forgive, forget anger and be able to love people. It also aids me in shunning conflict causing actions.

Another significant element of being a peacemaker is to know how to resolve conflicts. Occasionally individuals have a different opinion, misinterpret each other, or offend each other without even knowing it. A peacemaker is there in-between them in times like these with wisdom and humility.

In Romans chapter twelve verse eighteen, the Bible puts it that, as far as you can, peacefully live with all men. It is this scripture that teaches me that I should do all within my power to achieve peace even when the other party is not fully cooperating. It implies that I will have to make the decision of peace over and over again.

Moreover, in order to be a peacemaker, I have to manage my tongue. A single word will ignite a fire or a storm. Proverbs chapter fifteen verse one states, a mild answer would shut out wrath.

The response I will give might be harsh and contribute to further conflict. But when I talk low and gentle, I may make peace. This is what I attempt to do every day, although it is not always easy.

Lastly, as a peacemaker, I shall be doing as Jesus Christ did. Forgiveness to His enemies, praying to those who persecuted Him, and love despite Him not being well treated, was His way. I have to emulate Him in order to become a true peacemaker.

To sum up, the role of a peacemaker is a divine one. It is patient, humble, and spiritually mature. But as the Bible assures, peace makers will be children of God.
