In the modern world, it is highly advisable to encourage the youth, and this is a powerful message that is frequently repeated in MCGI. The youth are the heritage of both church and the society. They undergo numerous difficulties and temptations, not to mention being confused in this present era of social media and rapidly evolving value systems. Due to this, they require guidance, love, correction, and encouragement, which are based on the word of God.
It is evident that God honors young people and can use them greatly as depicted in the bible. The bible states in 1 Timothy 4:12, that, Let no man despise thy youth; but be a pattern of the believers, in word, in talk, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
This verse informs us that young people are not weak. Rather, young people are invited to live as good examples by their words, behavior, love, faith and pure living. Once the young people realize this, they get confident and have some meaning.
The concept of encouraging the youth in MCGI is also teaching them to be afraid of God and follow His commandments. According to ecclesiastes 12:1, remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth. This reminds the youths that they should establish a proper relationship with God at a tender age.
In my opinion, the young ones will not be easily carried away by the wrong influences once the word of God is taught to them at a tender age. The church is very influential as it offers good doctrine, proper mentoring, and activities that lead to righteousness.
Correction with love is one more important thing. The young children will commit wrongs, but they must not be judged. Proverbs 22: 6 states that, The Bible advises, Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is big, he will not leave it.
Being encouraging does not simply mean praising them, but also guiding them, correcting them, and praying to them. I have also gained that correction that is done patiently and with scripture will make youths stronger in faith.
The encouragement of the youth should also be a reminder that they should have hope and strength of God. Verse 31 of Isaiah 40, tells us, that they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.
Most youths are fatigued, bewildered, or disheartened. With the lessons taught in MCGI, they are made to remember that God is present at all times to make them strong provided they believe in Him.
Conclusively, it is the duty of all people in the church to encourage the youth. Through straightforward instructions, positive role models, prayer and God word, the youths can become responsible, faithful and godly adults. The future of the church is bright and strong when the young ones are nurtured in the right direction.
Remember thy lord in the days of the youth
