MCGI Topic Review | Forgiveness of Sins.

One of the most peaceful and powerful bible teachings is forgiveness of sins. When I really reflect on it, I know that not only is God forgiving us, it would be a call to do something to us in order to change our lives. According to the Bible, in 1John 1:9 He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness, in case we confess our sins. This indicates that honesty is the beginning of forgiveness. God desires that we should be sincere with Him even when we are heartbroken.

When I read about this issue during numerous hours, I realized that forgiveness is related to the love of God. According to Psalm 103: 12, the Bible states that God will eliminate our sins as far as the east is far as the west. This makes me assured that when God forgives, he has nothing against us. He does not remember us of our past and does not make us guilty once again. Rather He provides us a fresh start.

Forgiveness of sins also teaches us to be humble. I got to know that nobody is able to save him or herself through his or her strength. It is through Jesus Christ that salvation and forgiveness can be achieved. In our Bible, it is very clear that in Ephesians, chapter one, verse seven that we do not only see that our redemption is in His blood; in His blood we have the forgiveness of sins. This implies that forgiveness is based on the sacrifice of Jesus. Without Him we were not making out any hope of cleansing.

The other significant lesson is that God also wants us to forgive others when He forgives us. This was actually taught by Jesus in Matthew 6:14 where He instructed that we should also forgive others, and in the process our heavenly Father will also forgive us. Forgiveness may be difficult at times, particularly in the event of great pain. However I also learned that you never get anywhere by clinging to the anger and making the heart heavy. By forgiving, we are free and we are imitating the character of God.

Transformation is also achieved by forgiveness of sins. It does not simply mean saying God forgive me. It is concerning the rejection of the bad ways we did. The bible states in the book of Acts chapter 3:19 that one should repent and be converted lest your sins should be blotted out. This demonstrates that forgiveness is a change maker. Personally, I believe that God gives me strength to change when I am asking forgiveness in good faith.

Finally, forgiveness of sins brings out God mercy, love and patience. It mends our spiritual relationship with Him and makes us lead a cleaner life. It also teaches us to grant the same grace to other people. When we know how God has forgiven us so much, then we learn to be humble and grateful in our day to day lives.
