Bible study is extremely important to all Christians. It is our mentor in life it educates us on how to live as God has willed. Others pose this question, how many times shall we study the bible? In my mind, there is no limit as the Word of God is living and it always teaches us new things each time we read it.
It is stated in the bible in Psalm 119:105 itself that your word is a lamp to my feet, a light to my path. This demonstrates that the bible always details us regardless of the number of times we read it.
I have understood that at every time when I read the bible, I find something new. There are times when a verse that I have read numerous times just came to my mind in a new manner, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 reads, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful in teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped in every good work. This implies that, through repetition, we get to know God better and are prepared to lead righteous lives.
Another good thing is to study the bible everyday. One might believe that it is enough to read once only, yet as a matter of fact, our knowledge increases each time we meditate about it. Joshua 1: 8, God instructed Joshua that he should have the Book of the Law on his lips, meditate on it day and night, lest he should not be careful in doing all that written in it. Then shalt thou be successful and blue-eyed. This is a motivational factor that keeps us studying the Bible and putting it into practicing our lives.
This is the case in my personal experience as the more I read and study the Bible, the more I become convinced in my faith. There are occasions when I read the same chapter multiple times during a week due to new revelations God presents to me every time. I also have understood that the bible is not a book to read and leave but a life time manual.
Finally, we do not have a fixed amount of times we have to read the Bible. Every reading comes along with new perception and advice. We would have to read it frequently, meditate on what it teaches us and practice it in our daily life. Indeed, reading the Bible on a regular basis is a formula towards getting closer to God and having a life that is pleasing to Him.
The word of God is meant to be studied as often as possible
