The reason is many people tend to pose a question: why are we here? or what is the purpose of life? I have taken time to think deep about it and I think that knowing our existence is not simply about living, but having a divine purpose. Based on what I have learned in the Bible, it is evident that our lives are not by chance but we were created with a certain purpose by God. The Scripture talks of plans that the Lord has towards us clearly in Jeremiah 29:11; it says, For I know the plans I have towards you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This demonstrates that God has a plan of every one of us and our lives are supposed to drive up to His divine purpose.
To know God and establish a personal relationship with Him is one of the reasons why we exist. Life is not all about material wealth, success, and pleasure. I have understood that without knowing our Creator there is no completeness and emptiness in life. The Bible states the following in John 17:3, eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. This verse makes me remember that the main task of life is spiritual development and creation of a strong bond with God. When we live like this, we have sense and purpose in our lives.
The other significant aim of our life is to positively influence other people. God did not send us to this Earth with the purpose of just living ourselves but also to serve people, to love, and to do good. I have observed that we complete our role in God by serving others. This is promoted in the Bible in Mathew 5:16, which says, let your light be before others, that they may see thy good works and give glory to thy Father in Heaven. This reminds me that God has been good and that we should act in order to show God that we are good.
To conclude, I think, we have a definite mission on this planet to know God, live according to his will and make a positive contribution to the surrounding world. When we realize that we have a purpose to exist in the world and that purpose is not ours only, then life becomes purposeful. Our lives can be used to serve others and provide them with a blessing so that we can accomplish the real purpose of our existence.
