Greetings!
One thing is that God is not far away from us, we are the one that's far away from God in our everything.
We humans are far away from God in our daily activities, we are far away from God in our thoughts, also, we are even far away from God in our service to him and that's why we always think he's far away from us whenever our prayers or requests are not granted or answered by him.
According to the book of Malachi 3:7 “Even from the days of your fathers ye have gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?”
The scripture verse is telling us that, even right from the days of our forefathers, we have gone away from God's ordinances and have not kept them, which means, we have left the way of the Lord and and forsaken his commandments which why he too has left us unattended to, most especially in the place of our prayers which seems unanswered to us due to our neglect of his commands.
So, what Bro. Eli is telling us via this teaching is to retrace our steps back to him who has called us and by this, we would not be far from him, but be closer to him which would enable us to have access to him and also make everything work well for us.
In conclusion, God is not far from us as we have thought or believed, it's our evil deeds and thoughts that are taking us away from his presence.
Thanks for reading.
When we follow our own ways, we will be far from God
Yeah, our ways are different from what God want from us. Thanks for stopping by.
