Hearing But Not Listening To The Word Of God. MCGI TOPIC REVIEW

Did you hear what I said?
We have heard someone say that to us. Maybe when you were in school. While listening to the lectures in the lecture hall, you would have heard that from your lecturer. That was said to ascertain whether the listeners were actually receiving the lessons or not. The lecturer wanted to be sure that the students were receiving the knowledge which he was impacting on them.

Some other times, you would have remembered hearing someone say that to you. That could have been the admonishing voice of a father or a mother. When one has been scolded or advised, the parent would like to reemphasize what he has said. In that case he or she will ask the child to know whether he or she has taken the instructions given. The emphasis on making information well understood is vital in ensuring that one actually lives up to the expectations.

God also could have been asking us such a question. He asks to call our attention to the details in His commandments. Many people find it difficult to obey the commandments of God because they do not really understand what he has commanded them. The reason some people do not believe in God is because they do not understand the implications of not believing in God. A lot of people refuse to accept the lordship of Jesus Christ because they are unawares of what it will cost their lives not to believe in Jesus.

Hearing the word of God or reading the Bible is one thing but listening to what God is saying is another thing entirely. Many are in church today whose lives have not been affected by the Word of God.

The Word of God would only profit us if we listen and are willing to observe all that there is in expected of us to observe
