We were taught that prayer is the key. It was a popular line in one of our ancient church choruses. It teaches us that it is through prayers that we will be able to unlock every door that will lead us to our achievements. Through prayers, we shall be able to achieve everything that we set our face to achieve. That made us cultivate the habit of praying and trusting in God for all our daily provisions. Things might appear difficult and hard, but when we take them to the altar of prayers, the solution is bound to come.
When we say that prayer is the key, does it mean that it is only through prayers that we will achieve everything that we want? No! There are other things which we should do that are helpful and needful in making us receive the things that we are asking from God. God has told us to pray. The Lord Jesus Christ, on several occasions, had charged us to be prayerful. But is prayers alone enough for us? Will all our problems be settled only by prayers? Evidently, prayers alone will not be enough for us.
What do we need in addition to prayers? We need faith in God. Can we receive anything from a God that we do not believe in? Can our needs be met when we do not trust in that God? Not really! The Bible says that anyone who does not believe is like a wave of the sea tossed to and fro. It says that that person will not be able to receive anything from God.
Faith, prayer, and action are what will get us close to God .
Let us pray and also believe
I actually believe that praying alone is not enough. We must apply kingdom principles when it comes to prayer
