You do not have the power to stop doing bad, even apostle Paul in his former way of life was unable to stop doing bad things.
You cannot stop doing bad, unless you drive away the spirit of sin in you and it was the experience of the apostle Paul, he intended to do good things but he kept on doing evil which he couldn't stop until he met with the saviour Jesus Christ, and later he became one of the best apostles.
There are reasons why you can't stop doing bad, first of all, you must be forgiven of your son, that was why when Paul met Christ on his way to Damascus, the lord instructed that he be baptized and also his sins should be washed away.
