Namibia's central bank to launch a central bank digital currency (CBDC). That was announced by the bank's governor.
The idea is to both establish the BON (Bank of Namibia) in the crypto arena. The idea is to gain a position in this market that is expected to become a central arena in the financial realm. That, while tactically smart, is unlikely to make major difference long term as state actors likely are not able to avoid being sidelines but various transnational cryptos - which is the innate nature of crypto currencies.
