Some Micro grafts that I did, and the unboxing of 50 Myrtillocactus for graft holders.

I really wanted to talk about the unboxing of the myrtillocactus, but I couldn't talk about grafts without showing some of the ones I liked the most or the ones I am happiest with, for example the Ariocarpus, I grafted it on Echinopsis just to see if the graft works and to my surprise it did, probably in a few more days I will graft it on garambullo but it is something I have to think about carefully.

Let's get started, the package I ordered arrived on time and without complications, the truth is that I was desperate to open the package.

I think it came well protected and what I liked the most is that they also included the pots to plant them in.

IMG_20221110_115312.jpg

I liked the way the cacti came, I think they look great!

I really paid a lot of attention to the roots looking for any sickness but the truth is that I found nothing bad, only good things, although I must say that when I saw the roots I thought about pruning them but in the end I decided not to do it to avoid stressing the cactus even more.

Most cacti are a little over 4 inches long.

IMG_20221110_120028.jpg

Only 4 are slightly less than 4 inches.

IMG_20221110_120429.jpg

As I said, they also sent me the pots which I thought about cleaning but when I saw that the roots were healthy I thought it wouldn't be necessary, I hope I didn't make a big mistake because of laziness.

IMG_20221110_120651.jpg

For the substrate I made an organic mix, 70% organic and 30% mineral, as they are going to be used for graft holders they shouldn't get wet with the rain so I'm not worried about the organic mix as I will always control the watering.

IMG_20221110_120945.jpg

I honestly think I prefer black pots, but hey, I wasn't going to tell them: Don't send me the pots for free because they are terracotta color.

It was really hot so I had to go and get some beer, I'm not going to say how many I brought to the house, I just want you guys to crave some.

IMG_20221110_124413.jpg

After drinking some beer I had to leave the house, don't drive if you have been drinking, but I had to go out so I couldn't keep taking pictures, when I got back to the house it was already dark, however I took the pictures of the 50 Myrtillocactus so you can see them and count them if you want to.

Now the micrografts, this is a ferocactus latispinus on hylocereus, the one we know as pitahaya the dragon fruit, the truth is that I did this graft just to do it and to my surprise it looks pretty good, it took almost a month to start growing but since a week ago it has not stopped growing like crazy. By the way, the seedling was 3 days old.

Now an Astrophytum, it seems to me that it is asterias but variegated, it is from the seeds that my friend Fernando gave me, the rootstock is temporary and is Echinopsis, in a month I will move it to Mytillocactus.

IMG_20221110_185031.jpg

Now an Astrophytum myriostigma, same story as the previous one I will move it to Myrtillocactus, but these seeds are from the ones I bought about 4 months ago.

Gymnocalycium on Hylocereus.

An unknown one of Fernando's seeds.

An Ariocarpus grafted with a different technique, this one was already a little bigger when I grafted it than the first one you saw in the post, the first one was grafted as a seedling a few days after germination, that's why this second one was grafted differently to not hurt the tubercles.

IMG_20221110_185656.jpg

I copied this technique with Obregonia denegrii, I hope to get good results, with this I say goodbye, see you soon.

You have done some really unusual grafting here but I'm glad to see that it's working

I have done so many strange things it is true, but today I just found out that my Ariocarpus the biggest one is going to bloom, I can't hold my feelings haha, I will have to make a video @ewkaw @nikv @hive-183841.

Mineral mix and watering with lime, I think everything worked perfectly.

Yes please! Also, please tell us more about your lime method: I'm seeing how important the eggshells are for astrophytum, lopophora and some other plants

Of course, I think everything should be on video.

Ohh yes please! :D
Tag me so I don't miss it. I am sure you will post about it :p

You are absolutely right. 😁
