I saw also in Spotify itself a crowd funding option, but then there was a
issue with paypal not supporting it in every country..?

yeah, so that's why I didn't even mention mainstream crowd funding platforms, because there's always some bullshit in terms of high fees or geolocation/nationality requirements. Especially for the "developing" countries this is an issue. If you are in the right location and the fees are acceptable, you should consider it though.
Or maybe start a campaign on Hive? No idea how that would work.
