Hello Splinterlands Summoners! I bought Bren Palesworn from the market for $6. He's a neutral, legendary card that can easily find slots in battles. In this post, I'll share how his stats and abilities are useful in battles and where he is crucial in certain rulesets.
Lore

Bren Palesworn's lore focused on his Shapeshift ability. He can be of any race - Dwarf, Ulundin or Orc. Thus he can benefit from the Bloodline Dominion buff of any archon. He is an assassin, a sneak attacker that takes out the enemy team from the rear.
The sun had barely set on the rebellion. Kingdoms, empires, and nation-states were still licking their wounds. Rebuilding. Mourning. Not ready for another conflict. But maybe—just maybe—someone would answer the call.
So the Riftwatchers sent Bren Palesworn.
Not a hero. Not a general. A ghost. A shadow slipping among the splinters, training the few who were willing to stand against the conclave.
To the dwarves of Grimbardun, he appeared as a dwarf with a long beard and a thirst for ale, and he trained them to withstand the fires of Oridum. To the orcs of Duratuk, he came with tusks and rage, training them to weather Jicarilla’s floods.
And so it went—with the elves of Thanaloria, the gnomes of Nimbledook, and the ulund of Ulundin. Each saw one of their own. And each learned what they needed to survive the magics of the Conclave Arcana.
Stats and Abilities

Bren Palesworn is a six mana, neutral card with dual attacks. At maxed level, he deals two ranged and three melee damage. He has a Sneak ability which allows him to attack enemy rear units with melee from long distances. His most powerful ability is Shapeshift, allowing him to benefit from the Bloodline Dominion of all races. He also has Weapons Training, in keeping with his lore as a trainer. His True Strike ability synergizes with his role as an assassin. No unit can dodge his attacks.
I have my Bren Palesworn at level one but he is already strong at that level having both Sneak and Shapeshift abilities. He also deals one melee and two ranged damage coupled with his speed of three. He's a bargain for $6 for all the tools he brings to the table.
Role in Battle

At only six mana, Bren Palesworn can easily find slots in the team. His primary role is to decimate the enemy team from the rear with his dual attack and Sneak ability. With his Shapeshift ability, I find him most useful with the Earth splinter where the archon's bloodline dominion ability, Execute further makes Bren a deadlier assassin.
In Going the Distance ruleset where only ranged units are allowed, his dual attack is over powered. In this ruleset, he can combo well with another unit with dual attack: Thraghun, a unit I reviewed in a post last week.
Featured Battles

I'll show a couple of battles where Bren Palesworn helped my team win against the enemy. He blends well and finds synergy with any team because of his abilities.
Battle 1 - Earth Splinter

Bren works well with the Earth splinter which grants him the Execute ability further making more of an offensive threat. In this battle, I have an almost all elf team with Execute ability with only my tank as a non elf unit. Bren synergizes particularly well with another Sneak attack unit, Aranduriel, where they can both hit the enemy from the rear.
The enemy team is focused on magic but this was luckily countered by my archon who decreases magic attacks. The enemy has the best Frontier legendary card, Mystic Scaleweaver, who deals two magic damage and slows my team. This debuff was offset by my Silverleaf Warlock's Swiftness ability.
The ruleset was Target Practice, giving all units the Snipe ability. This made the battle a bit difficult for me since the enemy units are mostly magic and they target my damage dealers in the middle. Luckily, my units deal more damage and attacks more per round because of the Execute ability. This allowed my team to decimate the enemy quicker before they can attack.
Battle 2 - Going the Distance Ruleset

In the next battle, I teamed Bren with the Water splinter where he had the Enrage ability from the archon. The ruleset was Going the Distance where only ranged units are allowed but dual attack units with range like Bren can be used. The ruleset also included Equal Opportunity which marked low health units as targets. While we both used Water, the enemy team had the Frontier archon while I had Gorgug who grants the Bloodline Dominion buff of Enrage. This added a melee attack stat to Bren.
While we had some common units, my team was stronger having three legendary units. My team had the stronger attack stats and better abilities. The battle ended with my team intact.
Final Thoughts
Bren Palesworn is undoubtedly one of the best legendary cards that you can use in most situations. There are legendary cards out there that while strong, cannot be used in most battles because of either high mana or their utility is too specific. Bren fits his role as a neutral card perfectly. He is a jack of all trades card that you can use in every battle and even shine in some rulesets like Going the Distance where his dual attacks give him a distinct advantage. At only $6, I find him a bargain and I'll be on the lookout to level him up to two to get the Weapons Training ability.
